The 100th anniversary of the founding of the Turkish Republic on October 29, 2023, offers an opportunity for a historical and political journey through our neighboring country. This milestone invites us to better understand Turkey’s history and politics, the role of women, its religion, and its culture.

We will discuss the powerful Ottoman Empire, its rise and decline, which preceded the founding of the Turkish Republic by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on October 29, 1923. We will also explore the conditions that led to the emergence of modern political Islam and its long-standing dominance under the “invincible” Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The three lectures provide concise, unbiased, and as objective as possible knowledge about Turkey, along with ample material for critical thinking, further research, and a clear perspective on history.
