Many achievements have been made. | 4-10 March 2004 |
I believe that gender equality has not been fully achieved, and it is natural for women to struggle between traditional roles and new ones. However, economic independence and personal autonomy have been achieved. 60% of university students are women, and we already have the first two women on the Supreme Court. However, inequalities still exist against them, as shown by the increased unemployment rate. Often, women themselves do not place much importance on their careers due to family responsibilities and because of their historical exclusion from public life, they do not see it as a means of personal recognition. Stereotypes, however, are beginning to be overturned, and this is evident from the fact that, in the age group of 20 to 44, women’s participation in the labor force is 62%, which is close to the EU average of 63%.
Of course, I believe that for all the discrimination, there is also responsibility on their part. They must more actively claim what is rightfully theirs. They have the right to a career and to dream.
