The head of KINAL’s Gender Equality Network, Ms. Anna Karamanou, visited the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Mr. Ieronymos, this morning, accompanied by Ms. Maria Theocharis, a Network member.

Ms. Karamanou discussed various issues of social interest with the Archbishop, expressing her concern about the rise in domestic violence, even among young people, the lack of respect, and the reduction in funding for human rights. She also requested the Church’s support and assistance.

Ms. Karamanou, speaking on 89.5, praised the Archdiocese’s work for families. The Family Support Center of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, active since 2012, has provided care for nearly a hundred women victims of domestic violence, offering housing for several of them. Most of these women have also attended KESO’s skills training programs, which provide professional and, consequently, financial independence.
